From Birmingham International Airport to Victoria
A train can be booked from Birmingham International Airport to the University campus. You need to take the train from the airport train station to Birmingham's New Street station which is located at the heart of Birmingham city centre. From New Street, you can take another train to Birmingham University train station which is located next to the school of Computer Science and less than 5 minutes walk from Victoria Halls. When you walk out of the station, the conference venue will be to your right, and the school of Computer Science will be to your left.
More than 25 scheduled airlines operate direct flights from and into Birmingham to over 58 destinations in Europe, Scandinavia, North America and Asia.
A short (free) sky rail service connects Birmingham International Airport and Birmingham International Train Station. Trains run from Birmingham International Train Station to the City Centre (New Street Station) every half hour or less. The trip takes 15 - 30 minutes and costs less than £4 one way.
It takes about 40 minutes by taxi from the Birmingham International Airport to the City Centre (about the same to get to the University of Birmingham). The approximate cost is £ 15 - £ 20.
If you arrive at London Heathrow Airport, the most convenient way to travel to Birmingham is to take a National Express coach from Heathrow Airport to Birmingham City Centre (Digbeth Coach Station). Birmingham lies at the crossroads of the UK's motorway system with direct links to the motorways M5, M6, M42 and M40. You can plan your route through RAC Route Planner or The AA Route planner.
Birmingham is served by three main line stations - Birmingham New Street and Birmingham Snow Hill in the city centre and Birmingham International for the airport and NEC. National Rail has train timetables to help plan your journey. Some Virgin trains make the journey from London to Birmingham in around 1.5 hrs, but please note if you are arriving at a London airport you will still need to make your way into London (Euston station).
