Title

The AISB: 1964 and All That

Abstract

The AISB is one of the eldest and largest AI societies in the world and yet little is known about its first days. In this talk we will travel from its foundation in 1964 to the Lighthill report, disclose who was involved and how, describe the birth of the Quarterly, and AISB's relationship with the BCS and the SRC, and much more. We will document this historic period, and try to understand the various characters involved and the challenges they faced.
